What are administrative procedures and insurance required before arriving in Vietnam ?

Before arriving in Vietnam, you need to do Visa. Please check our « visa » item for more details. For more infomation about visa, click here

In addition, it is necessary to have a 6 month valid passport until the departure date from Vietnam.

Illness insurance: you have to pay for all medicine and insurance fees.

Advice:  Before going on holiday, you should also bring copies of important documents such as: Passport, Visa, air ticket, credit card....

What to do when going to Vietnam ?

Customs: drugs, weapons are banned. After doing customs procedures, you should exchange some money to spend.

Vietnam currency is Dong. In Feb 2009, 1 Euro is equal to26,000 dongs. Euro has become more and more popular, so you can exchange money very easily everywhere.

Time zone difference is a popular problem after a long journey. If you arrive in the morning or in the afternoon, you should not go to the bed immediately. Walking around and taking fresh air is the best ways to dispel the tiredness and help you to adapt to the new life pace.

* Preparation before depart

The best time to go to Vietnam.

Vietnam is an ideal destination for tourism. Vietnam has a varied climate; therefore you can explore the beauty of this peaceful country in all the season around the year.

Under the influence of the monsoon, from Oct to Mar, winter in the North is often cold and humid while it is dry and pleasant in the South. In the summer from April to Oct, the weather is hot and wet. From July to November, the storms from the East Sea will hit the Centre and the South region.

Please note that 1 week before and 2 weeks after Tet holiday (Lunar New Year), flight tickets and hotel are often fully booked, all the people are on holiday and the life pace seems to be « slower »

How many kg can I bring on a domestic flight?

To economic class, each person is allowed to bring 20 kg luggage in the maximum total size of 203 cm in length, width and height. To business class, the maximum weight is 30kg and in the same size as economic class.

In the winter from November to March, if you go to the North of Vietnam, you should prepare warm clothes and raincoat because it is very cold, humid and foggy, the temperature can fall down to 100C. If you go to the South, the weather is much more pleasant. It is drier and sunny.

In the summer from June to October, you should prepare some summer clothes.

Can I wear short in tourists' sites, pagodas, temples and museums?

In the summer, the weather in very hot. The temperature can rise to 37-400C. So it is the most comfortable to wear short. However, you should avoid wearing short to solemn places such as pagodas, temples and museums.

What kind of medicine should I bring ?

Before leaving, you should ask for the advices from your doctor about what kinds of medicines to bring and vaccination. You should make a list about this.

What kind of vaccination should I take?

Leukemia, poliomyelitis, tetanus, typhoid require vaccination. If you stay in the rural and mountainous areas from at least one month, you should also take inoculation against Japanese encephalitis and rabies.

There is no malaria in Vietnam. However, we advise you to take mosquito net at night.

What kind of vaccination should I take before going to Vietnam ?

Credit Card :

In Vietnam, credit card is acceptable in most of the hotels, restaurants and shop. However, the popular paying means is in cash.

In Cambodia and Laos, only big hotels accept credit card. It is not popular in restaurants and small hotels.

ATM - Automated teller machine :

In Vietnam, ATM system is basically located in big city of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Cambodia and Laos, there isn't this system.

Dollar is the most popular. Euro is only accepted in big cities.

In Vietnam, there are many currency exchange spots. These spots are under bank or private control. You can easily find an exchanging spot at the airports or big cities.

1 Euro = 26.022 VND

Are tips included in tour price ? If no, how much is enough ?

Tour cost does not included tips.

The amount depends on your satisfaction about our services. For example, you can give the guide some tips if you are satisfied with him.

Some suggestions : to driver : at least 2-2.5Euro per day per driver, and the tips for guide is as twice as for driver.

To other people such as porters, a waiter... this amount is flexible. You can base on the prices in different places. 

* Food

How much money do I have to prepare for drink and souvenir :?

Food price is very flexible. From tradition restaurants to small restaurants on pavement, the price is between 1.5€ and 7.5€.

About souvenir, you should go to shop far from tourist sites and bargain before buying.

Is breakfast safe?

Your health is put at our top priority. We always try to bring you safe, rich in nutrition and suitable for your tastes. All meals are made of fresh materials and by the best local cooks. We always try to mix traditional dishes and your local dishes. To the people with special diet for example vegetarians and the people who are allergic to some dishes, if you keep us informed in advance, we will prepare special dishes for you. The people who have stomachache should not have raw courses. We will let you know when we stop for meals. Meals are also served on overnight trains.

How is hygienic condition?

Guaranteeing hygiene safety is very important. Usually, our restaurants are very clean. However, at the small restaurants in pavement, you should not have vegetable and fruits without washing carefully. Do not add ice into the drinks. Instead, you can ask the waiter to put your drink into the refrigerator.

What will I discover?

A friendly people, a long-standing culture, the traditions with rich national characters, an abundant cuisine style. We advice you to taste Vietnamese specialities. You will discover unhearded-of things.

What should and should not I do ?

In costume: Vietnamese custom style is similar to European. It is strictly forbidden to be nude even on the beaches. You should wear formal clothes when you visit pagodas, temples or museums

Vietnamese do not express his anger in the crowd, therefore, you should not raise your voice when you disagree with somebody.

You should not be over familiar with other people. Vietnamese is very unobtrusive and often keep a certain distance to the others. You also should not to rub children's head and keep your toe towards other people.

What kind of gifts should I give local people ?

Here are our recommendations: a small perfume jar, lipstick, T-shirt, ball-pen or something which is typical for your country. To the mountainous people, clothes and books are very suitable.

What I should not miss when travel to Vietnam.

Popular restaurants: are the ideal places for you to meet the local people and learn more about their life. Enjoy local specialities, try to eat with chopsticks in these restaurants. It will be a really unforgettable experience.

Karaoke: is very popular in Vietnam. It is an ideal opportunity to meet, chat with friends and relax.

I s electric tension in Vietnam 220V or 110V?

Electric tension of 220V is used in newly built buildings. The rest is 110V. You should bring a pocket flashlight because electricity is often cut.

Should I hire a motorbike when visiting Vietnam?

You can hire a motorbike easily in big cities (Hanoi, Ho chi Minh city, Hoi An, sapa, Cat Ba, Phan Thiet, Phu QUoc, Nha Trang...) You have to pay a certain deposit or leave a personal paper.

Is there hair dryer in hotels?

Generally, hotels from 3* or some of 2* hotel in big cities have hair dryer. However, you can easily find one when you stay in a local house and hotels in the countryside.

What is the price for children?

We will apply special price for the children under 12 years old. Please contact with the travel consultant for more information.

If my program includes one night staying in local house, do I have to bring sleeping bag ?

The hygiene condition in local house is rather safe. However, if you want, you can bring sleeping bag. To avoid bring to many things, you can buy silk sleeping bag in Hanoi, Hoi An and Sai Gon. It is very convenient when traveling.

How many guides escort us throughout the trip?

If there are under 15 people in your group, we will assign different guide in different regions (the North, Centre and South). The guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the railway station basing on the each program. If your group have from 15 persons, there will be same guide go with you throughout the trip, even on the flight or train. 

Can I stop and take photos?

Yes, of course. It is a strong point in our services. The journey will follow your wish and you can stop to take photo or talk with local people whenever you like even in pagodas or museums.
